You have invested time and money in your wood stove. Now you have the ambiance of a fire, the stylish enhancement of your fireplace, and the efficiency of a wood fireplace insert.
Don’t forget to add the fireplace accessories! Your accessories can be limited to the basic tools required to maintain your fireplace. But, they can also include decorative items adding to the decor of your home.
An ash removal kit of some kind is a necessity. Are you going to sweep the ashes out, or would you prefer an ash vacuum? You will still need a shovel and fireplace shovel.
A thermometer would be good to have to measure the temperature of your fire. Some are color coded to alert you to different temperature ranges. You can choose a model that is permanently attached to your stove, or a stand-alone thermometer.
You may want a fan for your stove. Fans can be very helpful in distributing the heat to wider areas of your home. Don’t worry, smoke is not sent into the room, only the heat. With a more even heat disbursement, your stove is more efficient.
A hearth rug can be the perfect touch for your wood stove. And if you have any pets, that is probably where they will spend the winter!
